King's Day activities

On King’s Day, Utrecht Region’s cities fill with outdoor parties and activities. People head out in their orange outfits to celebrate, listen to music, sell or buy goods, and have an all-round good time. Check out some of the activities below. Vrijmarkt (Utrecht)
The city of Utrecht celebrates King’s day with the well-known Vrijmarkt (free market): a big outdoor market where everyone is allowed to lay down a blanket and sell their, mostly second-hand, stuff. The market takes up a large part of the city centre, from Vredenburg to the Wijde Begijnhof and starts the evening before King’s Day and lasts until 6 p.m. the next day. Kids Vrijmarkt Vleuterweide (Utrecht)
Vleuten has its own Vrijmarkt with live music at the Dorpsplein from 7 a.m until 8 p.m.

Market (Amersfoort)
Amersfoort hosts a similar ‘Kraampjes en -kleedjes’ market at De Nieuwe Stad on 27 April from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. A fun activity to celebrate King’s Day in Amersfoort! More info in Dutch.

King’s Night Run (Amersfoort)
Do you like running? Join the free King’s night run in Amersfoort! The dress code is orange so get a orange shirt or buy one there and join a group of people for a 2,5 km run. Fun right? Click here to find more info in Dutch.

Party at Ledig Erf (Utrecht)
There’s also a lot going on at Ledig Erf during King’s night and day. A party band and DJ's will perform and there will be a disco show for kids. Click this link for more information in Dutch.

BEA-TRIX Festival (Utrecht)
The free BEA-TRIX Festival at Janskerkhof in Utrecht is a popular party among students and youth. Several DJ’s and artists will perform from 6 p.m. on Tuesday 26 April until 6 p.m. on Wednesday 27 April. Check it out.
