The Stichtse Vecht municipality lies between the cities of Amsterdam and Utrecht. Due to its green character, picturesque villages and many monumental buildings dating from the 17th and 18th century along the river Vecht, the municipality is nicknamed “Pearl at the Vecht”.
The cities of Amsterdam and Utrecht are connected in several ways. The Amsterdam Rijnkanaal connects them through water, the highway A2 by road and the railway by train. All of them stretch through Stichtse Vecht, which makes the municipality perfectly accessible. During rush hour there is even a direct connection between Maarssen and the Uithof, where both Utrecht University and the Utrecht Science Park are located.
Within the municipality one can find copious lakes, two castles and the prestigious Nyenrode Business University. There are also many amenities in Stichtse Vecht including three Michelin-star restaurants.
