Zeist’s place in the Utrecht Region is the woody area of Utrechtse Heuvelrug. It is located near the motorways A12 and A28 and railway station Driebergen-Zeist offering a direct connection with Utrecht Central Station and Amsterdam Zuid.
Characteristic of the Zeist municipality is the predominately green character including lakes, canals and other waters, both in the village and outside. Another attractive feature is the combination of village character with urban amenities of a chic allure. The municipality has a wide variety of shops, a theatre, a cinema, a hospital, hotels, restaurants and various sports clubs for young and old.
By the end of the 17th century Willem Adriaan van Nassau-Odijk built the Slot Zeist castle. It is determinative for the structure of Zeist with its gardens and at the time wide ranging view.
