Joining forces to welcome internationals

The Utrecht Science Park Foundation and the International Welcome Centre Utrecht Region have signed a partnership agreement to strengthen the regional living and business climate. The aim of this collaboration is to further improve the services for Utrecht’s international community to strengthen the region as an attractive location for international companies, employees and students to settle.

The number of international inhabitants of Utrecht Region will keep rising in the coming years. The Utrecht Science Park, the largest and fastest-growing science park in the Netherlands, has a strong international force of attraction. Utrecht Science Park is an innovative science community that aims to accelerate the development of a healthy and sustainable society. As the beating heart of one of Europe’s most competitive regions it forms a hub for many internationals to work, study and live in.

The International Welcome Centre supports this growing community with a variety of services. At the centre, located in the City Hall in Utrecht, internationals can upon their arrival conveniently arrange the necessary formalities and receive information about living, working and studying in the region. To get easy access to the local (international) community, they can also participate in events about important and relevant topics. 

“We are pleased to partner with the Utrecht Science Park Foundation because it accommodates many companies and institutions with an international profile and it is an important player in the regional economy,” says Robert Snoeijenbos, director of the International Welcome Centre. “We have a shared vision on the importance of a favourable regional living and business climate. Together we can strengthen our region further.”

Jan Henk van der Velden, director of the Utrecht Science Park Foundation, emphasises: “The International Welcome Centre offers important services as it provides a soft landing and a warm welcome for the internationals working and studying at our partners on the Utrecht Science Park. Signing this partnership is a great moment to confirm that the Utrecht Science Park Foundation and the International Welcome Centre are joining forces.”

The directors of the Utrecht Science Park Foundation and the International Welcome Centre signed the partnership agreement on Monday 12 April 2021 in the City Hall of the municipality of Utrecht.
